Manifestings Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies Manifestings uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, to understand how visitors use a site, and to improve the experience. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses, and they cannot identify you by name on their own.

Some data similar to cookies — like local storage and session storage — works a little differently but serves comparable purposes, and is covered by this policy too.

Why this policy exists

We believe in being upfront. This page lists exactly what our website uses, so you can make informed choices. For questions about anything here, contact form.

The cookies and similar technologies we actually use

Here is the current list for Manifestings.com.

1. Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (Site Kit by Google)

Provider: Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Set up through the official WordPress plugin “Site Kit by Google”.

Name or identifier: The Google Analytics tag loads under the identifier GT-KF6C9DXL. They may set standard Google analytics cookies such as _ga and _ga_*.

Purpose: Understand which pages people read, how long they stay, and where visitors come from, so we write better articles. The data is aggregated and never used to identify you personally.

Type: Third-party, loaded from Googletagmanager.com, and stored in Google Cloud (USA).

Retention: Google Analytics data is normally kept for 14 months from the last activity; refer to Google’s policy for exact figures.

Google’s own disclosure: Google’s cookie policy. Note that our current setup does not switch on Google Signals or advertising features.

2. Product analytics — PostHog

Provider: PostHog Inc. (posthog.com). Data is hosted on us.i.posthog.com (USA).

Name or identifier: Set first-party cookies such as ph_* from the Manifestings.com domain.

Purpose: See how the site is used day-to-day, e.g. which articles are read in full, where people stop scrolling, etc. Configured with the setting person_profiles: 'identified_only', meaning anonymous readers are aggregated and no profile is ever built for you unless you are a subscriber.

Type: Third-party service writing mostly first-party cookies.

Note: PostHog is our detailed analytics tool; if our Privacy Policy ever conflicts with this page, see the date above each for which is current.

3. Newsletter — Kit (formerly ConvertKit)

Provider: Kit Technologies Inc. (kit.com), including scripts from manifestings-com.kit.com (USA).

Name or identifier: ckn and ckt (Kit cookies, set when interacting with the newsletter signup form on the Sign Up page; names may vary by Kit form version).

Purpose: Power the “Join the Newsletter” signup form and remember whether a visitor has already subscribed on that device so we don’t show the form again.

Type: Third-party.

4. Caching and performance — LiteSpeed Cache (WordPress)

Provider: LiteSpeed Technologies (litespeedtech.com) via the WordPress LiteSpeed Cache plugin (first party).

Names: _lscache_vary and related litespeed_vary values; the guest-vary system may also use sessionStorage.

Purpose: Helps the website serve cached copies so pages load faster, and tells LiteSpeed if the visitor is a guest or a subscriber so the right version is served. These are “necessary” cookies: without them some caching features simply stop.

Type: First-party.

Note: On our latest checks, our pages normally arrive without these cookies on a standard visit, but may set them — e.g. after a newsletter form interaction.

5. WordPress itself

Provider: WordPress (the software this website runs on).

Names: If you log in or leave a comment, WordPress may set cookies like wordpress_*_, comment_author_*, or comment/anti-spam cookies. Standard visitors who only read will typically not get these unless you interact.

Purpose: Site administration, comments, and contact-form handling (WPForms contact form).

Type: First-party.

Note: We do not currently show ads or run social-media pixels or tracking. Our social links to Facebook and Pinterest are ordinary links — they do not track you on our site.

How to control or disable cookies

You are in control. You can:

  • Delete or block cookies in your browser settings. All modern browsers let you delete existing cookies, or block all cookies, or block third-party cookies: Chrome · Safari · Firefox · Edge.
  • Use Private/Incognito mode to limit cookie persistence, or browser extensions that block tracking.
  • Opt out of Google Analytics across all websites using Google’s official browser add-on: Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Opt out of PostHog using PostHog’s official opt-out instructions.
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of any email you receive from Manifestings, or by contacting us.

Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of this website behave (for example, cached page versions or the newsletter signup). The site will still work for normal reading.

Do Not Track: Our website does not currently respond differently to the browser “Do Not Track” signal (which is not honored consistently across the web).

Where we are and who this policy is written for

Manifestings is written in Nelson, New Zealand, and our primary audience is readers in the United States. Different rules apply depending on where you live:

  • In the US, there is no one federal cookie-consent law generally requiring a banner. Some US state laws (for example in California, Colorado, Connecticut, and Virginia) give residents the right to know, delete, or opt out of certain data sales or sharing. Manifestings does not sell or share personal information as defined by those laws — and our analytics use is broadly the kind those laws exempt when used for internal site measurement.
  • In the EU and UK, the ePrivacy Directive and UK GDPR require consent before storing or accessing cookies on a device (except cookies that are strictly necessary). Where this currently leaves our site is described in the “Current status” section below. If you are reading from the EU/UK, you can always withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time: delete the cookies described above from your browser, use an opt-out tool from the providers above, and contact us so we can add you to an opt-out registry where technically feasible.

Current status (to be updated by the site owners)

As of 20 October 2026: Manifestings does not yet operate a cookie consent banner or a first-party consent manager. Non-essential analytics (Google Site Kit and PostHog) load when you arrive at the site. Readers who need prior consent (such as in the EU or UK) should use the controls in the “How to control or disable cookies” section above, and are welcome to contact form if they would like us to honor an opt-out. We plan to revisit this as our audience grows.

Changes to this policy

We’ll review this page as we add or remove tools, and update the date at the top. The date above always reflects the current version.
